Anti-Gay Commercial: "I'm Confused"

  1. This commercial shows media bias because it addresses only one perspective of gay marriage but neglects to acknowledge the pro-gay side. It also uses children to enhance the message in a way which allowed them to avoid providing reasoning and facts. While there was a reason presented, they omitted a large amount of the extensive debate that has been following this controversy for years and only states their opinion, which was very much biased.

  2. Using the children was really smart on their part, but it obviously showed the anti-gay side's view and failed, or in this case, sort of refuse to refer to the other side. It's almost painful to watch this stuff because of how far some people are taking this to get their point across.

  3. I beleive that children should not be exposed to the political propaganda that our politicians and political groups expose to them and make it easier to come up with their own opinion on the matter.

    1. I also believe that children should not have their parent's opinions be reflected off of them. They should not be used to influence people's views until they are old enough to understand the topic and express their own opinions on it.

  4. I think when the children get older, they should then get exposed to this debate, not at their age. The younger generations are becoming more accepting of this because they are realizing that being gay is not a choice. Unfortunately, that is not how the media works because they are mostly concerned with results. The fact that they have confused kids could be very powerful to those who are in the middle of the debate, but also very depressing to an informed observer.

    1. With all the progress we have made concerning the topic of gay rights and marriage equality many people working for the media are trying to convince children that being gay is wrong and in my opinion this could hurt the progress we've made in the long run.

The tactic of using children in this commercial is smart. Although it was smart this commerical lacked a counter argument. Not showing this side of the argument can trigger a lot of tension in todays society. I feel if this commercial was a little more extensive, it could have better aruged their point about anti- gay marraige.

  6. Kids shoudl'nt have relgion, oreintation, etc shoved down their throats. They should be able to make their own choices and decisions, just with a little bit of guidance, they shouldnt be forced to be something they arent.

  7. This commercial is clearly biased and is only displaying the opinion of anti-gays. By constantly referring to "Adam and Eve", they were clearly refrencing to Christian views on homosexuality. It shows children as being "confused" about the concept of homosexuality, which is an effective strategy because it convinces the viewer that believing that homosexuality is acceptable is a childish and immature perspective.

  8. Kids are like sponges, their opinions are formed solely by their parents and enviornment. I don't think we should find reason in these anti gay commercials using Christianity to back up their views. I have nothing agaisnt anti gay Christians whatsoever, but the Bible also says that women who have sex before marriage should be executed.

    1. I agree that kids only absorb what their parents tell them and believe what they are told to believe but that doesn't create an excuse for using children to try to guilt people into supporting anti-gay beliefs.
